New Logo for new website

This is the new logo for the new website that will be going up possibly this year. Last weekend a very talented Ethan Welkes helped me with ideas for logo design and fonts. This logo is derived from a piece of jewelry I had made for the new Lotea series coming up in the spring, which is themed in nature, and rebirth.

For The Love of Dragons..Sold

For the Love of Dragons Necklace:

18 inch necklace:Completely handmade, this dragon is a one of a kind filigree piece. With hand wrought sterling wire and a hand set Garnet cabochon Lantern, he will never be duplicated again. The idea behind this piece was that I imagined a dragon flying toward the moonlight, however when I constructed the moon to hang from his mouth, it didn't look right, so I created a garnet heart shaped lantern and hung that there instead.

Elea' (Dragon's Eye Pendant) Sold

Forged by hand:

Sterling silver planished, faceted and drilled dome with granulated sterling silver and a hand set smokey quartz round cabochon. The back hole in the eye allows it to change the tint in colours when worn with different coloured shirts. The etching around hole of the circle is to mimic the design of an actual eye, and is more detailed in real life rather than in this photograph.ooo there is also a piece of lint fiber stuck to the eye from the polishing cloth. ah buggers. I cleaned it off now, but it's in the photo. The pendant is 1 ½ inches round and weighs in at about 16 grams worth of sterling silver.

Ale’kai (dragon’s nest)

An 18 inch necklace, the center bundle hangs about 3 inches wide, 2 inches tall and about 1 ½ inches thick. Nested here is an alternative to a dragon’s pearls. I imagined a dragon collecting pearls and making a cocoon nest high in a cave. Someone would be exploring one day and find this mass stuck to the wall with rope like phlegm. However, there are no pearls, or phlegm in this necklace. Instead this necklace is made up of mostly recycled materials I had found. The metal coated beads, were pieces of a necklace from the 70’s, the hematite were pieces of a necklace that was from the 80’s. And the cotton string, I’ve had in my supplies since the early 90’s. So I guess this necklace is somewhat a resurrection of my collection of materials. Except: The brass chain, and copper clasp were bought in the 2000’s from

Oh, and all beads and findings were thoroughly cleaned and polished.

Tel’menel in pure crystal: (the sky’s path)sold

Meant to represent the pathway of a dragon’s flight; this necklace is more like puppetry than anything else. The center piece is balanced as if it was floating, creating a dragon’s path in flight. The silver strands connect the path so it floats in one swooping shape. I admit it is a strange design, but I couldn’t help it. I wanted to make the dragon’s path drift across the chest.

The necklace is 16-18 inches adjustable:

The pathway focal piece is large crystal Briolettes. Each crystal is just under an inch long and a ½ inch wide. The crystal pathway is in total about 6 inches long, and the tail of the path hangs down about 3 inches. The spaces between the crystals are Labradorite rounds, and the bottom of the tail is a sterling silver moon. Connecting the pathway are three strands of pure sterling silver beads, and bali sterling silver accents. A Sterling lobster clasp is used, with a sterling silver extender chain.
*The Lamp worked beads used here are made by a great artist on etsy. Her shop is Artistic Offerings and I highly recommend her work.

Tel'men sold

Tel’men: (the path)
Meant to represent the pathway to a dragon’s home.

The necklace is made up of:
*The pathway focal piece is Fine Silver wire that I had shaped, fused, and work hardened with my hammer. Since it is pure silver, it is much lighter, and will tarnish slower than sterling. Each link on the fine silver path is anywhere from ½ inch to an inch big. The entire linkage pathway falls down a little over 5 inches. Connecting the pathway is sterling silver chain. The links in the chain are hand assembled.
*The Lampworked beads used here, are made by a great artist on etsy that I highly recommend.

*Hematite rounds
*Sterling silver nugget that is a little over ½ inch big.
*Onyx rounds
*Bali Sterling Silver accents
*Sterling Silver Chain
*Handmade clasp that was shaped and work hardened.

For the Love of Dragons

Adulan'Sula: Enchanting Birds
Meant to represent the powerful two folded nature of enchantment, the design is to be reminiscent of a “friendly” twofold kiss from a dragon. In this tale, the powerful dragon is one so handsome and talented; however yet so cunning and cutthroat, he will do anything to rise above all, leaving you kissed by his beauty, yet spent by his presence.

Cut with my hand saw is Sterling silver shaped to represent a dragon’s tongue. The design features a broken heart split in two by a single bar splitting the tongue into two sides. The left side has a more caged effect, while the right, a more romantic flow.
All components are hand made. This piece is forged by hand and is not a casting. I would love to have the equipment to do castings in the future though.

I will never duplicate this piece so; it remains as a one of its kind. The necklace is made of Iolite stones and Sterling Silver Spacers and the clasp is hand wrought Sterling wire.

Dimensions:
The center pendant is 1 ¼ inches tall with 3 sterling silver chains draping down about 4 inches. And 1 inch wide.
The necklace is 18 inches long and extends to 21 inches

**Originally I had intended to hang stones and chain from the bottom of the piece; however I was influenced to use draping chain by a piece that I had seen from another artist who creates a similar style. Here is the link in which influenced the final design. **

Naura...A Dragons Fire..sold

Naura (A Dragon’s FireScale)

Usually when making a piece in sterling, Jewelers tend to avoid an outcome called fire scale. In sterling silver, fire scale is created when too much heat causes oxygen to mix with the copper that is alloyed with the fine silver. This causes a red or purple stain. However, when working in copper or brass, it is simply beautiful and forms a range of colours. I thought that I’d play on words here, for the dragon series, and use my fire as a paintbrush, colouring Brass and Copper chains to represent the iridescent ‘fire scales’ of a dragon. Technically, without silver, this is a fire-oxidizing patina, but I love firescale and I can’t resist a jeweler’s pun. Of course the firescale doesn’t show up well in pictures. However, the closer view of the chains may help you see what I mean.

So here is a piece called Naura: a multi stranded necklace painted by fire scale.

It is a 19 inch 8 strand necklace containing:
Sterling Silver Antiquated Chain
Handmade Copper Hook Clasp
Hand Assembled Red Brass Chain With Copper Links
The width of the chains together spreads to about an inch.

Naura has found a home other than mine. It will be missed.

First of the Dragon Series..was sold

Starting off the 'For The Love Of Dragons' Series is a piece titled 'The Pearls of a Dragon'
The center pearl still attached to its shell, is meant to be reminiscent of the dragons claw, still clutching at his precious pearl. The surrounding pearls represent those that he has collected over the span of his lifetime. And at the very tip of the necklace’s chain extender, two thin round shells represent the trace of dragon scales left behind by the dragon, after claiming his pearl prize.
This 16-20 inch necklace contains:
Bronze Genuine Pearls
Peacock Genuine Pearls
Cranberry Genuine Pearls
One Claw Shell with a Genuine Pearl Within
Hand Forged Antiquated Sterling Silver Clasp
Antiquated Sterling Silver Chain
Round cut shells
Sterling Silver Spacers
Dark Grain Wooden Beads
The pearls of a dragon has found a home other than mine, it will be greatly missed.

Season Cycle

Part of the Peeking Moon Series; this piece was inspired by one of my Favourite XTC songs dealing with the cycle of life. (Birth & Death, Sunrise and Sunset, Spring and Winter.) The Sculls along with the Bali Prayer boxes represent Death and Life. The Spirals on the bottom of the necklace, represent the cycle of life in many cultures. They also represent the changing seasons. If worn clockwise they represents Spring, counter clockwise,.. Winter. The changing colours on the necklace represent the change from sunrise to sunset. I tried my darned-ness to get the complete colours of the sunset into the necklace. But there are still just too many colours up there for me to squeeze into a one strand necklace. This necklace is one of a kind, and will never be duplicated. It is 18 inches, and is strung on 22 pound sturdy steel wire.
The Necklace is made up of:* A Hand made Sterling Silver Clasp* Moss Agate Faceted Coin Stones* Oval Rainbow Tourmaline Stones* Labradorite Round Stones* Czech Cathedral Artisan Blue Glass* Labradorite Faceted Rondelle Stones* Tibetan Monk Bone Skulls* Bali Sterling Silver Spiral Prayer Boxes* Citrine Faceted Rondelle Stones* Oval Rainbow Jasper Stones* Artisan Glass Hand made by a Local Artist. * Hand Worked Sterling Silver SpiralsAnd a big Thank you to Andy Partridge!
